Lagos Life is a free, Sims-style life game set in Lagos that runs in your browser. Here is how to get in and what you do once you are there, from what the official site and the press have published.
Unofficial fan guide. This site is not run by or connected to the Lagos Life developer. The official game is at lagoslife.app.
Get started in four steps
Open the game. Go to lagoslife.app in Chrome, Safari or another up-to-date browser. There is nothing to install (BusinessDay). Not sure your phone can run it? Use the device check.
Sign up free. Enter your name, a username and your email, then the 6-digit code the game emails you (official site). You must be 18 or older, and you must not sell, share or trade your account (official terms).
Get your start. Each new player begins in one of two randomly given situations: “Nepo”, born into wealth and connections, or “Lapo”, starting from a harder financial position (BusinessDay).
Live your Lagos life. Create your character, then work jobs, pay rent and meet other players in the shared city (Techpoint Africa).
Tip: on a phone you can add the site to your home screen from the browser menu, so it opens like an app (step by step for iPhone and Android). Your game is saved on the game’s servers, not on the phone (official site).
Day-to-day life
Jobs and energy. You earn virtual money from jobs, and an energy system means you have to manage your character’s needs rather than work non-stop (BusinessDay).
Real time. The game’s day runs in step with the real day (BusinessDay).
Homes and land. Players rent homes, and can buy virtual land and run businesses (Techpoint Africa, Technext).
Other players. Everyone shares one city: you can see where other players are, meet them and chat. Messages, direct ones included, may be stored and checked to handle reports and moderate the game, so don’t assume they are end-to-end encrypted (official privacy policy).
Governor and laws. Players run in elections and vote at the Polling Unit, and the Governor can send an announcement to every player. On 5 October 2026 the start screen showed a weekly “law” in force (a transport subsidy) (official site).

Money in the game
Game naira is a fictional game unit, not real money: it can’t be withdrawn or cashed out, and selling it for real money is against the rules (official terms).
You can top up your wallet with real money to buy in-game naira. Payments go through the game’s payment provider, and purchases are final once delivered; if you were charged but got nothing, the terms say a refund may be considered, and their contact is support@lagoslife.app (official terms).
The game also sells advertising in its city, such as billboards, banners and open-sea lots (official terms).
Rules worth knowing
In chats and messages, no harassment, threats, scams, impersonation or sharing someone’s private details.
Don’t try to get into another player’s account, and don’t buy or sell accounts.
Don’t use bots or scripts, or exploit bugs. Accounts that break the rules can be suspended or closed.
